What is a nurse assistant program?

A nurse assistant program is a training program that prepares individuals to work as certified nursing assistants (CNA’s) in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

What are the prerequisites for a nurse assistant program?

The prerequisite for a nurse assistant program may vary depending on the program and the state. Here at Genevieve Training Center (GTC). You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a criminal background check, and be of good moral character. 

What topics are covered in a nurse assistant program?

GTC nurse assistant program typically covers topics such as basic nursing skills, patient care, anatomy and physiology, infection control, communication skills, legal and ethical issues in healthcare. On-site practical skill experience.

How long does a nurse assistant program take to complete?

The length of a nurse assistant program varies depending on the program and the state. Most programs can be completed in 4-12 weeks, with some programs offering evening or weekend classes to accommodate working students.  Here at GTC the nurse assistant program is 6- weeks in length during days, Monday through Thursday, with evening courses coming soon. 

What are the career prospects for graduates of a nurse assistant program?

Graduates of a nurse assistant program can work as certified nursing assistants (CNAs), in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. These positions are in high demand, and job growth in this field is projected to be faster than average.

What is the certification process for nurse assistants? 

After successfully completing GTC program, graduates must pass a state competency examination to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA).  The exam includes a written/oral portion and a skills demonstration, and passing the exam is required to obtain a CNA certification.

What is the cost of tuition? 

Tuition is $2,680, to be paid in full, and is due when the student begins the program and accept and sign the enrollment agreement.
